First Anniversary Meeting and Japan-China Entrepreneurs Reception 2019

On Friday 22 November 2019, the Association held its first-anniversary meeting in Tokyo, followed by a commemorative reception organised jointly with Japan New Overseas Chinese News and others.

First-anniversary meeting

Zhan Kongchao, Counsellor and Consul-General of the Chinese Embassy in Japan, attended and offered congratulations. Noting Shenzhen's pioneering role in China's reform and opening-up, he encouraged the Association to introduce Shenzhen widely in Japan and bring more Japanese companies on board. Vice Presidents Tsuyoshi Tsuyuzaki, Chen Jianzhong, Aosa Zhuoma and Yang Kun reported on the year's work in tourism, culture, business and food service.

Commemorative reception

The Association co-initiated a reception marking the 8th anniversary of People's Daily Overseas Edition Japan Monthly, the 20th anniversary of Japan New Overseas Chinese News and Japan-China entrepreneur exchange in 2019.

  • Komeito leader Natsuo Yamaguchi attended and spoke
  • Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi sent a congratulatory message, and LDP Secretary-General Toshihiro Nikai sent flowers
  • Consul-General Zhan Kongchao gave remarks
  • Banri Kaieda, Supreme Adviser of the Constitutional Democratic Party, proposed a toast
  • DJI Japan exhibited drones

Many Japanese and Chinese-owned business owners talked with Association members, saying they wanted to know Shenzhen better and take part in its development rather than just watch it.

The first year and beyond

President Jiang Feng said that in its first year the Association had focused on the word "promotion": working with Chinese- and Japanese-language media to share Shenzhen's latest developments, partnering with Chinese community groups to widen Shenzhen's networks, and engaging Japanese companies to show Shenzhen's appeal as a city of innovation. In the coming year, he said, the Association would work to turn interest in Shenzhen in Japan into lasting results.
